Kuwait Continued

This is a post from an earlier blog I kept when I was in Iraq.

Mood: 🪖

I finally found out where I am at, this place is called Camp Buehring.

Anyways, I am staying in a tent but it’s not what you think. It’s actually pretty cool, the tent is air-conditioned and big enough to comfortably house 14 soldiers. We sleep on aluminum/canvas cots.

The cots are pretty comfortable, especially when you are really hot and tired. I am so glad that I brought my pillow, it makes this place feel more like home. And I’ve gotta be honest, I like it here more than I like Fort Bragg so far. I think it is probably because I am keeping an open mind first of all and also because of the fact that there are so many people here for me to talk to. I stayed up all night last night playing spades, and after that we went to the gym. I didn’t get into bed until about 12:30, but it’s ok I didn’t have to get up early this morning. They try really hard to accommodate the soldiers over here so I feel pretty nice. And I heard where I am going it only gets better. Ma, I really love you but I think I am going to stay!!!

Sike naw, I miss home for real and no matter how good it feels to be here I know that I am here because the country is at war and I ain’t cool with that at all. The Kuwaitis are pretty cool. You can tell they are very intelligent, they don’t speak much but I make an effort to talk to them. I saw a lady one day have a conversation with them that’s probably because she spoke to them a lot. What else… I am going to training this morning to learn about IEDs. An IED is an Improvised Explosive Device. Those bombs that they sit on the side of the road and blow us up with.  Then I can chill for the rest of the day, I will use the computer and get a haircut, and buy some items that I need. We’ll Imma go now I love you, Ms. Brooks!
